From June 15 to 18, 2026, Mirus Software AG participated in the Elvaston AI Hackathon in Berlin with an interdisciplinary team.
Our investor Elvaston brought together 13 teams from its portfolio companies – with a clear task: to develop a functional proof of concept for a new product or feature in just three days, with the potential to achieve annual revenue of one million euros within two years. AI was to play a dual role: as a tool for rapid implementation and as the core of the respective product idea, supported by external experts.

Our team – our expertise
Representing Mirus Software AG were Florian Mihalits (Group CTO), Marcel Rüedy (Product Owner, CH), Jozef Kopanicak (Software Engineer, CH), as well as Oliver, Stephan, and Volkmar from our product development team. They combined different areas of expertise and tech stacks – from .NET and Node.js to React – and formed a well-coordinated hackathon team in a very short time.
Mirus Insights – the AI-based virtual controller
Our hackathon idea: “Mirus Insights,” an AI-based virtual controller that answers business management questions at an expert level. The tool understands colloquially phrased questions, accesses the Mirus database and external statistical sources, analyzes the information, and creates clear diagrams with understandable explanations.
For Marcel, Mirus Insights is also an example of a new development speed:
“In two days, we made more progress with Claude than we normally would in weeks – Mirus Insights is the best proof of that. It was impressive how quickly the idea was on the table and how everyone pulled together – with passion and a lot of energy. Thank you for that! Now it’s up to us to bring all teams on this journey as quickly as possible: with a clear rollout plan, training, and adapted processes. This new speed is a huge opportunity for the company – the important thing is that we don’t lose sight of quality in the process.”

New learning for better products
For the team, the hackathon was much more than a competition – it was an intensive learning format that directly impacts Mirus’s day-to-day work.
Jozef says:
“The hackathon was an eye-opener for me. AI is no longer a topic for the future. In those two days, I saw completely new possibilities of what can be achieved with AI; how little lies between an idea and a prototype, and how much a well-coordinated team can deliver. I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned and applying it in my daily work with my colleagues.”
Florian is already looking ahead to the coming months at Mirus Software AG:
“My goal was, in addition to a viable plan, to create a product that we can use as a real basis for further development – and at the same time to inspire a team for AI. Both were achieved. In two days, an idea turned into something very presentable, and a group of colleagues became a team of AI evangelists. It is precisely this spirit that will drive Mirus forward in the coming months.”
Award and outlook
On the final day, all teams presented their prototypes live to a jury – Mirus Software AG took 3rd place with Mirus Insights. Elvaston is donating the prize money in our name to a charitable cause – a sign that technological innovation and social responsibility go hand in hand for us.
For Mirus Software AG, Mirus Insights is the starting point: over the next six months, we will turn the prototype into a market-ready offering and bring the virtual controller to our customers.
The experiences from Berlin will flow directly into our product strategy, training concepts, and development processes – carried by a team that is eager to implement modern data and AI solutions in a practical way in our customers’ daily operations.
Congratulations to our Mirus team – and many thanks to everyone who made this success possible.
